The Horsley Lodge Golf Club is an exclusive-use wedding venue that combines timeless character with countryside charm, set amidst the spectacular landscapes of Derbyshire and the foothills of the Peak District. With its unique blend of historic architecture and manicured grounds, it provides the perfect backdrop for both intimate gatherings and grand celebrations.

Originally built in 1863 by the Earl of Sitwell as a wedding present for his son, Horsley Lodge has earned a reputation as one of Derbyshire’s most distinguished country hotels, golf courses and wedding venues. Since 1990, the former Manor House has been lovingly restored, retaining its original features from the sweeping private drive and exposed limestone walls to the elegant tiled floors, blending history with modern comfort.

As a Derby wedding photographer who had the privilege of marrying here myself in 2012, I can personally attest to the magic of this venue. There’s a warmth and intimacy that makes every celebration truly special. The venue’s gardens and grounds provide endless opportunities for capturing those precious, candid moments from joyful laughter to romantic couple portraits. And as dusk falls, the setting transforms into a photographer’s dream, perfect for creating epic wow factor images that capture the romance and atmosphere of your day.

Horsley Lodge Golf Club is conveniently located just outside Derby, offering easy access from the city and surrounding areas while still providing a peaceful countryside setting. From Derby city centre take the A52 towards Ashbourne before joining the A517 and following local signage to Horsley Lodge. Guests travelling from nearby towns such as Belper, Matlock, Burton-on-Trent or Ashbourne can reach the venue in under 30 minutes via the A38 and A517, with ample on-site parking available for all visitors. For those coming from further afield the venue is easily accessible from the M1 motorway, making it a convenient location for family and friends travelling from across the UK, while still feeling wonderfully secluded for an intimate and memorable wedding day.
