Screen Photography: Showcasing Your Home at it’s Best

We have been commissioned to capture high-quality photographs of your property for marketing purposes and potentially floor plans as well.

First impressions are critical when selling a home, and preparing your space before potential buyers step through the door can make all the difference. To help you showcase your property in the best light, here’s a handy checklist for homeowners to get ready before our visit:

For External & Internal Photographs

  • Remove vehicles from the driveway
  • Close the windows
  • Move bins, hose pipes and gardening tools
  • Remove or fold down washing & rotary lines
  • Tidy or remove pet toys, bowls etc
  • Tidy or remove children’s bikes, toys etc
  • Tidy cabling or hide where possible
  • Ensure all lighting works, replace bulbs if necessary
  • Tidy away remote controls, phone chargers etc
  • Remove items you don’t want in photographs
  • Remove pet beds, bowls, toys, frames, trays etc
  • Try and streamline, un-clutter where possible

Main Rooms

  • Remove tooth brushes, shampoo, gels, cream bottles from baths & showers
  • Tidy or remove bath mats and towels
  • Clean mirrors and shower screens
  • Remove items from the back of doors (coats, gowns, hats etc)
  • Reduce or remove items on work surfaces, fridges and calendars
  • Try and place bins out of sight (outside, kitchen, WC and bathrooms)
  • Tidy dressing areas and bed side cabinets
  • Make up the beds and straigten pillows
  • If using under bed areas for storage, can it be seen and likewise for items on cupboards
  • Make good any cracks, touch up paintwork and wipe down scuff marks

While the checklist is comprehensive, it’s designed to guide you without adding unnecessary pressure. Remember, small improvements can make a big impact. Often, just a few thoughtful touches are enough to highlight your home’s best features, whether for the camera or when a potential buyer steps through the door.

Most internal photographs of your property will be taken from the doorway of each room. This perspective allows the space to feel familiar and inviting, both in photos and during in-person viewings.

To make the most of this, we recommend taking a moment to step into each room and focus on what’s visible from the doorway. Consider how the room looks from this angle, does anything need adjusting? This could be as simple as rearranging furniture, removing clutter, or highlighting a key feature. Remember, the first impression from the doorway often sets the tone for the rest of the viewing experience.

Depending on the size of the property, our visit typically lasts between 1 to 3 hours, including time for photographs and floor plans.
